The Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics of the NASB is a collective governing body of the Institute and takes the most important desicions concerning activity and development of the Institute. The Scientific Council executes the following functions established by the Statute of the Institute:
- defines the subject of research and examines the structure of the Institute;
- evaluates the results of scientific activities of departments, sectors, temporary research teams, individual researchers and approve reports on their activities;
- elects by competition heads of departments, sectors, research workers;
- considers the budget of expenditures of the Institute;
- approveы the plans of scientific research of the Institute;
- considers the recommendations on the preparation and publication of scientific papers; reviews and recommends to the publication important scientific works (monographs, scientific and analytical reports etc.) accomplished by the researchers of the Institute;
- discusses the issues of coordination and collaboration with other scientific organizations;
- discusses the issues of effectiveness of international scientific cooperation of the Institute, the progress of the ongoing research conducted together with the foreign partners.
The Scientific Council of the Institute of Economics includes Director, Deputy Director for Science and the Scientific Secretary (ex officio), as well as leading scientists, who have a scientific degree. Members of the Scientific Council are elected by the scientists of the Institute with a degree, with the right of withdrawal and replacement. Decisions of the Scientific Council enter into force after approval by the Director of the Institute.
