On April 7, 2026, an online meeting between the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus and Guangzhou College of Commerce was held.

Guangzhou College of Commerce was represented at the meeting by ZHOU Peng, Vice President / Dean of International College; XIA Jiechang, Professor, Dean of School of Economics; HONG Zhenhua, Director of International Office; WANG Longhua, Deputy Head of the Academic Research Office; as well as academics of the School of Economics and foreign affairs specialists of the International Office.

During the meeting, representatives of Guangzhou College of Commerce provided a detailed overview of the key aspects of their College’s activities to representatives of the Institute of Economics of the NAS. They described the College’s history, outlining the key stages of its formation and development. Particular attention was paid to the College’s structure, including its faculties, departments, and administrative units. The Chinese delegation showed a video highlighting the College’s achievements, its material and technical resources, and its international projects.

The Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus was represented at the meeting by Denis MUKHA, Director of the Institute of Economics; Alexander GOTOVSKY, Deputy Director for Research; Natalia KASHINSKAYA, Deputy Head of the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Development Center; Ekaterina TAVGEN, Research Fellow at the Center for World Economy; and Nadezhda SMOLSKAYA, Junior Research Fellow at the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Development Center.

Guangzhou College of Commerce representatives were briefed on the history, scientific potential, and research areas of the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus, the activities of the Belarusian-Chinese Analytical Development Center, and were also presented with the Institute’s latest publications, including “Digital Transformation of the Chinese Economy: Scientific and Technical Support and Implementation Practices” and “Prospects for Belarusian-Chinese Economic Cooperation within the Republic of Belarus’s Membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”.

The parties expressed interest in establishing and developing partnerships across a wide range of areas: joint scientific research (in the areas of digital economy, artificial intelligence, new energy, electric transport, the Belt and Road initiative, and others); organizing and holding joint scientific events (international scientific and practical conferences, seminars, and roundtables); publishing joint scientific papers; and research staff exchanges and internships.

At the end of the meeting, ZHOU Peng and XIA Jiechang expressed gratitude to the Institute of Economics of the NAS of Belarus for the fruitful meeting as well as hope for developing cooperation in promising areas.
